Telstra to cut Broadband prices and increase speeds

TELSTRA will launch a fresh assault on the booming $1 billion-a-year broadband market this Friday, slashing prices for its Big Pond services as the telecoms group seeks to lift its market share above 50 per cent.

The company will enter the market for fully bundled telecommunications services for the first time by offering new customers discounts when they take broadband, fixed-line, mobiles and pay-TV services together.

In a letter to its dealers, Telstra outlined new price plans that would see new customers get half-price services for up to 12 months if they used internet billing. The offer could see new customers save up to $660 for high-speed internet access alone in the first year.

Telstra confirmed the new offers in an announcement today.

But market analysts said Telstra was only playing catch-up to Optus which had had an aggressive offer in the market for the past two months.

ParanSolutions Successfully Interface Asterisk VOIP to Aria 24

After a bit of a struggle with our NetJet ISDN card and the 2.6 kernel, we eventually got Asterisk running with a 2.4 kernel and the voice patch for the PCI NetJet isdn modem. Once running, asterisk works fine letting us interface 2 channels into the Aria 24. We have successfully tested the configuration with a Grandstream BT101, a linux laptop running Ekiga and even an XP machine running Xten and a bluetooth headset. Voicemail to Email works an absolute treat. While in Sydney for the V8 supercars at Oran part, Jerry easily connected to the voip server at the office (Using a linux laptop with a 3G access card), and made local Melbourne calls without a hitch. For more info contact the office.
